Micro-Ecosystems and Wild Fermentation Workshop

Saturday, September 17, 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.

Join artist and Microobservatory field guide Benjamin Andrew for an interactive workshop and discussion about his Turf and Terrain work—Foggy Bottom Microobservatory. Learn about wild microorganisms living around Foggy Bottom and go on an exploration walk around the neighborhood.

Participants will be instructed on how to collect and develop yeast starters for naturally carbonated sodas, sourdough bread, or wild-fermented beer. Your choice of yeast starter will be available to take home at the end of the workshop. Supplies and ingredients will be available on a first-come-first-serve basis, but all are welcome to participate in the event.

Meet at the observatory: outside 915 26th St. NW (between I and K Sts. NW).
